What is PCHATP?

PCHATP stands for Positive Communication Habits And Thought Process.
It’s two things that either affect or reflect each other:

  1. Positive communication. – The things we define as positive are often outcome based. For instance, many of us define winning as a positive. Let me ask you this – If you win a lot of argument but lose your job or your marriage…is that positive?
  2. Thought process. – I use the above example because how we communicate; whether to argue or simply express ourselves, is a direct reflection of our thought process. Although I enjoy coaching individuals on better ways to communicate, how you think about communication is even more important. Working on your thought process and  developing positive communication skills can become a habit. I’ve learned to develop this habit and helped others do the same.

FYI – Positive communication does not mean every time you talk you spew rainbows and butterflies or every word is like a unicorns laughter…but wouldn’t that be interesting? It is actually about taking responsibility in how we communicate, understanding our thoughts, emotions and acting toward a mutual and positive outcome for yourself and whom ever you are communicating with.

Why is PCHATP a movement?

We all represent a small tiny percentage of the world. We have all been affected by poor communication skills and negative thought processes. From the drive thru to the driving range – how we interact is often a quick way to make or break a relationship. Marital, professional or short term pedestrian relationships are a necessity…unless you want to get everything you need online and never leave your home. Even then you will inevitably have to speak on the phone or in an email. Let’s face it. Like it or not, we are all role-models for one another. We can’t talk about society as if we are not part of it. It is a movement to change our world by changing how we talk to it.

The next time you find someone talking crazy to you or find yourself wondering “who do they think they are talking to” or better yet you have a negative internal dialogue (talking to your self) – say “P CHAT P” 3 times and remember what it stands for. If you work on you, you’ll improve a small tiny percentage of the world. If enough of us do this, we can change large percentage of the world. 
Respect, empathy and understanding can become the norm. When it does, we will know we changed the world by changing how we talk to it. Until then… P CHAT P!

Who is the host?

Success in life is determined in large, by your ability to communicate. You can be the best at what you do, but if you’re not talking effectively with others (clients, peers, and staff), you’re missing opportunities. There are many ways to look at communication in the small or large worlds we live in. Body language, individual consideration, historical relationship and personal barriers affect your ability to speak to different contexts whether one on one, client or employee relations. This where I come into the picture as your Master Communicator. My goal is to help you master the various communications skills that help ensure success at every level.

So who am I?

My name is Marshall T. Fields, and professionally, I am a master communicator with a strong desire to see everyone succeed.

I’m a father of four, a husband of 17 years, lover of all music and people. Business wise I am a PCHATP podcast host, corporate trainer, instructional designer, a magazine columnist, community liaison for an award winning art project,

I am a world changer who is changing the world with these 3 missions:

  • Encourage positive communications
  • Increase selfless empathy
  • Grow humanitarian appreciation

As a professional who believes that you can change your world by changing how you talk to it, I have come to realize there is ample room for improvement in how we communicate with one another. Whether you are an agency or association – if you desire to improve how you or people in your organization communicate, I have a solution for you. The process I employ combines simple discussions to allow self-realization, infused with real-life exercises and examples that help you move from where you are to where you want to be.

I possess both the academic qualifications and practical working experience to help you apply worthwhile and useful, but easy to follow steps to make the communication process both positive and healthy. For example, I am an Electronic Engineering graduate of Spencerian College, with certifications from ASTD (Blended Learning), Langevin (Curriculum Design), and have my PLCC – Professional Life Coaching Certification. Experience-wise, I have had fifteen years of experience communicating the values of highly effective communication in both friendly and confrontational environments. My background merges the technical aspects of adult learning with elevated soft skills. Previously, I trained customer service and sales in a budding telecommunications industry. Prices rose, equipment became more complex, software advanced yet the human success factors never changed. In fact, the variables involved in human interaction haven’t changed in my 41 years on this planet. What you discuss has continued to evolve (bag phone versus an iPhone) but the importance of how you say what you say has been steady and unchanging. The cultivation of these communication skills have been a part of my journey and sharing them is my lifes purpose.

I am the author of Communicating to Grow, a 30 page book written to minimize your investment of time and maximize exposure to healthy communication thought processes. The book is short, the effects are long, and the return on investment is priceless. Its aim is to make known universal ways to improve how you transfer and receive information. This positively impacts professional or personal situations. I have seen abilities to relay information drastically changed by applying some of these simple instructions.
